In 1984, I was eighteen years old. Following that summer, I enrolled at Appalachian State University and in 2 months I fainted and was taken to the school's infirmary. I was diagnosed with leukemia and sent to Baptist Hospital where they told me they only expected me to live three years or less. My whole world collapsed. But that wasn't the end of the story.

I was told that the best place for treatment was Fred Hutchison Cancer Research Center in Seattle, Wa. Churches and many people all over the country came to my aid and enough money was raised for me to go to Seattle for a bone marrow transplant. While I was undergoing this process, some medication caused a reaction and I was totally paralyzed, confined to a wheelchair for 8 years and my lungs collapsed but I never lost my hope or faith in Jesus. Prayer was lifted up to the Lord as I went through this battle. The recovery was slow but, eventually I began to heal. Now, many years later, my leukemia is totally cured, the paralysis is gone and I’m walking and talking again. Although I’ve experienced a lot of rough times, I’ve never looked back. "Without Jesus, I wouldn't have been here."

In 1998, I met my wife Terry. When we met, she was a database designer and brings her God given abilities to this marriage and ministry. It has always been our desire to be in full-time ministry together. Now God has allowed this vision to come to true. "If it weren't for her, this ministry would not be the same! God knew just what I needed."

I have a burden to help those that are chronically or terminally ill.  That’s why there’s a Psalm 23 Ministry.
